Why Do Ratings Matter?
Ratings are a crucial component of the Street FC experience! Here’s why:
They keep STFC games fun + safe! Our ‘chill’ ratings encourage good behavior in our community, and allows us to be proactive in keeping our games safe + respectful.
They keep games balanced! Our ‘skill’ ratings help us place players into the right games for their skill level. This allows our games to be reliable, consistent and fun for everyone in each game! It’s an equally bad experience to have a first-time player playing in an ‘Advanced’ game as it is to have an experienced player in a ‘Beginner’ game.
What is the ‘K-Scale’?
The ‘K-Scale’ is what we use to measure a player’s ‘skill rating.’ The ‘K-Scale’ was custom designed to accurately place players in the right games for their skill level. You can see the skill-rating and attributes associated with each K-Scale rating below:
How Do Ratings Work?
Onboarding: When you onboard to the Street FC app, you’ll be prompted to self-rate yourself using our ‘K-Scale’. This initial rating is really important and will help place you in games that are right for your skill level. Most of our players fall into the 2.5 - 3.5 skill range, so please try your best to accurately rate yourself!
After your first game: Once you complete your first game, the next time you open your app, you’ll be prompted to rate the players who played in the game with you! You’ll be rating players based on the following:
Chill: Was this person great to play with, no issues? Or, did they fall short of STFC community guidelines (respectful + safe!)? Most of our members have ‘Smiley’ face ratings and are great to play with!
Skill: We tried to keep it simple: you’ll be asked if this person’s rating is ‘Lower, Stay the Same or Higher’ than their current rating.
What Games Can I Play In?
Depending on your self-rating from the K-Scale, you’ll be given access to the game(s) noted below. About ~80% of our games are ‘Standard’ games, and we plan to keep growing our ‘Beginner’ + ‘Advanced’ offerings.
GAME LEVELS
“Beginner” - (1.0 - 3.74)
“Standard” - (2.5 - 5.0)
“Advanced” - (3.75 - 5.0)
After each game, you will be rated by other players and your rating will continue to become more accurate.
How Can I Improve My Rating?
Keep playing! Our skill ratings system is designed to make incremental progress each time you play. One great game won’t move you up an entire point, and equally, one bad game won’t move you down an entire point! Keep playing, and your rating will start to accurately reflect your skill level.
I think my rating is wrong, what can I do?
We wanna be upfront: we don’t change ratings. We live by the ‘K-Scale’, and have been very thoughtful about our ratings system. If you want to improve your rating, keep playing and you’ll gather more ratings from the community. Thanks!
